Our story begins in 1944 when, just after getting married, grandfather Pedro and grandmother Loreto open a small tavern in the center of the town of Caldes de Malavella, a meeting place for the people of Caldes and visitors. It is said that in that tavern they served one of the best pistos, tripe and paw of the region.

Grandma Loreto's enterprising spirit made them leave the tavern in 1957 to open a small hostel in front of the Roman Baths. Little by little, thanks to the know-how of the grandparents and their daughter Mercedes, they made a name for themselves in Caldes de Malavella. Soon, the hostel was filled with summer visitors from Barcelona and with the boom of tourism in the 60s, stays from France and Holland were frequent.

We were at the hostel until December 1977. There, Mercedes married Quim and their two children, Carlos and Pedro, were born.

On December 23rd, 1977, the establishment where we are currently located was inaugurated. That was a risky bet for the dimensions of the project. Grandma Loreto and Grandpa Pedro, this time with the help of their children, built the new Hostal Esteba. A small hostel with restaurant and bar, located at the entrance of the village just in front of the sports area. That, without a doubt, would be the definitive life project for the generations that would follow them.

Currently and since 2008, Carlos, son of Quim and Mercedes is in charge of continuing the project started in 1944.
